My name is Lindsay and here is my story so far.  In Sept 2002 I came on holiday to North Cyprus with my partner, my sister and her husband. On the third day of our holiday we decided to visit some Estate Agents in the Kyrenia area as it was hot to sunbathe, I don’t think we looked very affluent as the first two Estate Agents ignored us. Then we stopped at the Girne branch of Estate Agents Donaghy and Beyler and all trooped in, here we were offered drinks and then bananas (by Hayat) we were then sat down and asked what type of property we were looking for, all four of us looked blank

A story of moving a family and my Real Estate life in New York to family life and Real Estate in Northern Cyprus Hi there or “WHATS UP ‘? As we say in New York! My name is Pia . My story is a weird one…… I was born in Denmark, have English/ Danish parents and have travelled all over the world. I moved to New York to help start up a Danish Eyeglass Company and got stuck when I met my Turkish Cypriot husband. Stuck as in, stayed for 19 years instead of one, started a family and lived the typical, amazingly stressful life of a New Yorker with kids in private schools and a weekend house at the beach, paying more to park the cars than you pay for an apartment rental in North Cyprus!!!! |

Having lived here in Cyprus in the 70’s – my husband, Les, was in the military at Akrotiri and I worked at Episkopi – we were already in love with this beautiful Island and, the icing on the cake was the birth of our beautiful daughter, Storm. We nearly called her Berengaria – but that’s just too much of a mouthful after a few glasses of local wine (well, you try saying it)!! We eventually moved back to Oxford but thoughts of finding our island and living in the sun never left our minds. We had fabulous holidays in Spain, Menorca, Mexico, St. Lucia, Skeggy (just joking!) but never anywhere that we thought we could move to and call home. |
